Mini Museum
Are you creating a museum in your classroom? Would you like to find out more about how museums work and how artefacts are looked after and displayed?
At Clifton Park Museum we can offer a bespoke museum themed school session for your class to discover more about how museums work.
As well as looking around the museum galleries your pupils will have the opportunity to meet museum staff and ask questions about their job and museums. Activities will also include making a mini museum in a box, using real museum artefacts and writing information labels, and a handling workshop looking at artefacts from museum collections linking to your classroom topic.
Currently we can offer the following themes:
- Stone Age Tools
- Ancient Egyptians
- Romans
- Victorians
- World War One
- World War Two
- Household objects within living memory
Cross curricular links: History, English and Art
Venue: Clifton Park Museum or in your school
Times: Half day
Real museum display
For schools that have booked a session we can offer space in a museum case to display their work. It is an exciting opportunity for pupils to produce work for visitors to the museum to enjoy. If you are interested in displaying your class work in the museum please ask us for more information when you book. The displays are programmed in advance so you will need to book in early to guarantee a slot.
